Hi,
I am a single Mom and I am taking my daughter (5) on the Carnival Cruise next week to Cozumel and Yutcan. We are on the Elation/Ecastaty.

I have been reading the post but would love some advice that would make this trip extra special or easier.

Also, shore excursions are they better to book ahead? use Carnival? or wait? what is some WOW shore excursions? I do not want to spend an entire day at a beach but some time would be fun. Also, is there any dolphin trips in the area?

Thanks for your help
Jenn

For Cozumel check out Cozumel Insider dot com. It is one of the best destination websites I have found. Cozumel is my favorite port. We love to snorkel and if you want to do that check out Eagle Ray Divers. I try to not book excursions on the ship. For one reason more expensive and for another reason too crowded. Here are the links

=welcome to Cruise @ddicts and =funsign on your cruise.

I don't know if they have recovered from the recent hurricanes, but we really enjoyed Chankanaab National Park in Cozumel. There were a lot of things to see and do. Real nice snorkeling right from the beach, a museum, showers, and lockers etc. They had dolphin encounters and other shows available for an additional fee. We caught a taxi right at the landing for a 10 - 20 minute ride. The entrance fee to the park was $10 pp U.S. I believe. Like I said I don't know what it is like now, but it was very nice in 2003. I couldn't get over how nice Cozumel in general was, especially compared to Baja. The taxi fare was what I expected; the driver didn't try to say it was per person not per cab etc. All in all it was a very pleasant day in port.

I am seeing other posts stating that Chankanaab is still closed. I am sure there is something else to do. I think I have read about some ruins there. Your little girl probably isn't going to be thrilled about them I guess.

I'd recommend the Catamaran Sail & Snorkel. You can book it on your own but will only save a couple of bucks,so I'd just book throught the cruise line. It is a very tour! You will board a very large catamaran and sail to a snorkeling area and enjoy snorkeling for about an hour. They will then open up the bar and the music as you sail to a private beach area. Lunch is served there for an extra cost, and there are lots of beach toys with which to play and enjoy the beach. On the return trip to the ship, everyone ususally gets into a party mood with conga lines, great Caribbean music as well as the open bar.
