They do offer these tours at the dock for less $$$. I believe one of them is Mambo Tours but there are a number that hawk their tours near the pier. The main consideration will be the amount of time in port versus how long the tour is. If the independents have plenty of time I'd sure consider them. From what I saw in Limon the independents generally cost 1/3 less. Can't tell you a thing about either tour though - haven't been on them.
