Didja miss me?

Thursday night I had to run out to a meeting, and instead of closing up my computer armoire, I just left it open. Maxie and Scooter, the little darlings, caught a mouse and let it run under the desk, and between the 3 of them they pulled out my video card from the computer. I had to wait until tonight for my son to come fix it. Talk about withdrawal. Thursday night I walked around moaning and groaning, I have no computer. My life is on my computer. I had to actually watch TV!

Friday I had another dr check up, and a real fight with him this time since I was running a temperature for the first time since all this started a couple weeks ago. I could not get a breath, and could not walk 50 without gasping. My BP was sky high, and when he asked did I have chest pain, and I said yes because my back was out of joint he hit the roof. Had to have an EKG right away. Which proved I had not had a heart attack like he thought (as he said, not that I am at risk for one or anything) but it was abnormal, which he attributed to the effort it took to breathe. So, we went head to head, and he finally gave me a whopping shot of Kenalog and sent me home with antibiotcs, more asthma meds, a chest xray and instructions to get my A** to a hospital if I still felt like this on MOnday. I told him for the first time in my life I wasn't buried under medical bills, and I couldn't afford a hospital unless I were dying. Anyway, the kenalog worked by the time I got home, I can get the deepest breath I have been able to take in months. IN fact, I keep forgetting to breathe deeply because I forgot how!! Not good news tho, my sinus infection is killing me, the antibiotics are doing nothing, still have a small fever, earache and sore throat. So, I am calling tomorrow and asking for new meds, but no hospital!!!!!!!!! My SIL Scrapbook Lady calls me a female Mark, her DH. Says I sound just like him. It runs in the family!! I know too many people came home froma hospital sicker than they went in. ONe friend nearly died from a staff infection she caught there after surgery. NO WAY!!!!!!!!!

My best friend, the ones who stay with me all the time, just called, from Houston. Her 38 year old daughter was rushed to the hospital with severe chest pains. No one knows how, but she had a ruptured aorta. She lives in Denver, and they could not find a surgeon who would take her case, so they called all over the country and found one in Texas, and they rushed her there. They didn't think she was going to make it, but she came thru the surgery all right and is in intensive care for the next week. Scary!! This girl and her 3 sisters spent so much time at my house when they were kids, and my son at theirs, that he told his kindergarten teacher he had 4 sisters. Teached called me in to talk about his wild imagination since records showed he was an only child!

Kitten update for Mary Ann--I had a roast beef sandwich for lunch, and took him some leftovers. He had been eating from my hand for a while, but has been hissing at me if I try to touch him. In fact, last night he bit me when I tried to touch him. This afternoon, I sprawled spread-eagled on the porch, and put a paper with the roast beef between my legs. He had to come within touching distance to get to it, and every time he did, I would touch his ear, or back. Finally, I reached up and gave the base of his tail a good scratch. His eyes flew open wide and his tail went up and he started kneeding. Then I moved up and scratched his ears. Wow, did he love that!!! He leaned his whole head in my hand and purred. I scratched him for about 10 minutes, then he let me pick him up and cuddle, purring the whole time. He jumped down, but came back and let me pick him up again. This time he was done, and ran off and played. I just tried again to pick him up to show TJ when he was leaving, but he wasn't having any scratching without food!! I am still trying to make the decision what to do now, I don't want to take him to the vet, only to have to leave him there if I do have to have a hospital stay. I don't even know who would feed the big guys, my son could come once or twice, but not every day, and I don't know if I trust my neighbors. Another reason I am not going. .

Hey Connie another thought....this is the second mouse....this is the time of year when they chew into homes....maybe if you call the park, tell them you have been sick and you can't go outside and check they will send someone over... kkkk??? You don't need mice germs....

Conniecat - I'm so glad the kitten is back....I was scared the racoon had gotten him. What a sweety. He sounds so great. The neat thing is he trusts you to get so close and now he's kneading which as you know, cats attribute to getting milk from their mom....awesome girl!

I pray that you will get better soon!

I don't want them coming around with Simon living under there. As for him, he is a siamese---mouse, EKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!! I think I know where they are getting in, TJ is going to caulk for me. Altho, I think one came up the dryer vent and I don't know what to do about that! I don't want to put out Decon with the kitten out there, either.

Funny, I was sitting on the porch with him night before last. He kept running up and down the stairs, doing summersaults, etc. He ran out and hid under my car, and out of the corner of my eye I saw white fur sneaking up on me. I turned around and said hello, to a possum. He danced back and forth on the stair trying to make up his mind, cat food on the porch, human on the porch, hmmmm. I chased him off.

There is a sign somewhere that says, free lunch, connie's place. You wouldn't believe what all I feed!

yyyyyyyUccccckkkkk I hate possums.......My samoyeds were always tangling with them in their run. I ran more dogs to the vets for rabies boosters after tangling with the possums....

I understand about not wanting the park there. I think there is a filter you can put on the end of your vent connie so that they can't get in there......ask your son to check that out for you too.

Thanks for checking in, Connie - welcome back to the world of cyberspace!

I'm so sorry about your continuing health problems and those of your friend's daughter. Texas does have some outstanding heart facilities - I have a friend who lives in Fort Worth who has severe heart issues.

Kenalog and I are "old friends" - I'm glad it helped you.

As for the mouse (YUK), you might try having a mesh similar to Brillo stuffed in any openings. That's what we had to do for a vermin problem in our building in Florida - it worked. I imagine Maxie and Scooter were in the kitty version of the dog house after they pulled that stunt with the mouse. :X

The progress with the kitty is heartwarming - and I think he's training you! ;) Just be careful that he doesn't bite you again. He IS still feral, and I'm sure you know that cat bites can cause lots of health problems. Scritching just above the tail and near the ears are two of Pucci's favorite places, too.

Keeping your friend's daughter in our prayers too...that was pretty scary!

=hugs ,and =welcome=homesign.. you were missed, and glad Simon is still a fixture..
and wowee I sure hope all those meds kick in.get well kiddo.. and prayers for your Texas friend..

as for the STAPH infection in hospitals.. it's a sad fact MRSA ( the bacterium ) is present in each and every one of us EVERY day..just walking around as we are.. usually in our nostrils or other orifices.. it's just in hospitals.. MRSA catches when bodies are less resistant, it mutates, and becomes a full blown problem.. if you need the hospital cc then I wish things better, but I would like to think you'll beat it better at home..stay in touch..:daisy..Joanne

Connie, we have a screen over our dryer vent. It helps keep out the critters.

I hope you get better real soon.

Your little kitten reminds me of the one we had years ago. She was a cutie too.

Sorry you're having so many health issues. I certainly understand what you're saying about the medical bills. I really can't complain because our insurance has been doing pretty good but everytime DH has to have preapproval for another test the insurance really gives the dr office a hard time. Our worry right now is a $2000 test that was preapproved, test completed, & now insurance is fighting paying it--has been on hold for about 3wks as they gather more medical info from the hospital. It is a sad world we are in when every decision we make regarding our health we have to stop & say well I don't know that I can do that because of the insurance. Hope you get better soon. And in looks like you've done a great job at taming kitty. I think you need each other.

Thanks, everyone. When I was on disability from work, the ins company was giving me fits about the approved leave, they would approve a couple weeks, then want more dr verification. Finally, I was asking for just 3 more weeks, so I had my dr write them a letter. He was not happy and it showed. He gave them a list of all my medical problems (I sat down with a med encyclopedia one day, and I had one condtion for every letter up to R). He also sent my records. The letter finished with, "Any idiot can see this patient is handicapped!". The company called and said they didn't know what they had done to deserve this, but they were just going to go ahead and pay me ALL the leave I had accumulated. And they did!
