We are also Elite members on Princess but left them years ago when we discovered the larger suites on HAL and at that time the food was better on Princess. I can't compare the food now between the 2 cruise lines as we haven't sailed on Princess for about 8 years.

Hello everyone! I have mostly "lurked" around here so I thought I would say hello. I am a real Celebrity addict, but I keep reading your raves on HAL. I am thinking if I love Celebrity, HAL would probably also be a good fit for me. Someone- give me a few sentences that would convince me to try a switch. From what I read everywhere, I can't convince myself(even tho I have done several others over the years) to try anyone else- except maybe HAL! Thanks for all your help!

Probably the biggest differences between =X= and HAL would have be the passenger's average age (HAL being a bit older) and the children/families (more families and children on =X=). Level of service - the edge might go to HAL. Food? Comparable ...

DR, I'm a =X= fan too, but I'll be giving HAL a try in August. I'll be sailing with Calgon and Sunflower, so if HAL is a bust, I'm gonna bust Cal's head with a tray, if I can find one on the ship...

(jees, I shouldn't have said that word....)

GloBug-- I hope you can find a tray- let me know!! I was just on the Century twice (Dec and Jan) and trays were in abundance.

Calgon is safe - HAL did away with trays in the Lido Cafe awhile back.

Celebrity and Holland America are ranked the same - premium cruise lines. I really think which one is better depends on personal choice. Those who are pleased with Celebrity will advise that line, and those pleased with HAL will advise HAL. Both are excellent lines. Compare itineraries and fares...and let them figure into your selection. I personally am happy with HAL, and have 3 cruises booked with them.

Actually there are still trays on HAL.

In your cabin your ice bucket and glasses sit on a small tray. ;)

Not me -- clothes go in the luggage.

We got along fine without the trays on our previous cruises.

I just mentioned about the cabin trays -- Calgon might not be safe.

Yonnie - actually, I mentioned trays in a suitcase tongue in cheek!

Actually I know of some people from the other site who have packed trays for the Lido.

I just wanted to warn Calgon1 that he may not be safe from trays.
