Holy Crap...Man Overboard

Just got home frome a 7 day cruise on the Conquest.
Got to sail in circles for 4 hours looking for a man overboard.
Scary thing. Your worst nightmare I imagine.
Never did find him.
Drunk, climbing balconies, is the cause (via rumor mill).
7 foot waves and high winds.
They sent out a life boat to look and it was being thrown about like a toy.
Within an hour there were 5 other ships nearby helping in the search.
I surely can't complain about the 5 hour delay.
I pray for the family.

My prayers go out to his family---I don't understand why people do such things---

Yep, yep, the same thing happened to be onboard the Legend. A man jumped over committing suicide after fighting with his wife. We circled around for 11 hours!!! We were in the middle of the Atlantic so no other ships were around to help us.

Can't complain either though... got a whole extra day out of that cruise for free! :D

Princess if food is the goal, plus on some of the ships the pools are fresh water !!!!! Carnival if fun is the goal.....I don't think you can go wrong with either

Cruise Junkie lists all incidents of people going missing from ships and ferries since 1995.

A lot of the cases in which a cause can be confirmed are suicides. According to this site the number has gone up from 9 in 2003 to 19 so far in 2006, the most recent just today as two are missing from the P&O Ferry Pride of Kent. Today's is the third incident this month. Here's the link.

That was over the PA system early in the morning right? Sad. I'm sure they could write a book.
