Honeymoon Ideas?

Hello everyone,

I first want to say that you all have given me so many great ideas for our upcoming cruise. I've gotten addicted to these message boards these last couple of weeks :)

My fiance and I have been on 2 Carnival ships and 1 Princess ship, but for our honeymoon we wanted to try something new . We are planning on going on the Celebrity Summit--I heard this is the ship you don't want to miss!! It's a 9 night cruise leaving from Ft. Lauderdale, and going to St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Martin, and St. Thomas. I also heard that the Eastren route is very easy to do on your own. This is where I hope you all can help us.

Since we are paying more for our ship than we originally wanted to, we were hoping to find some excursions for a decent price, if not doing things on our own. We have read some ideas for St. Thomas and St. Martin-We are planning on doing the Godfrey tours at St. Thomas or Megan's Bay, and at St. Martin we are planning on Orient Beach and shopping, but we are completely lost on what to do in St. Lucia and Barbados. Are there things we can plan on our own? Does anyone know what to expect for taxi fees at all of these locations? I've never been on the Eastren route, so any information will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all so very much for your time, and I look forward to reading all of your posts :)

ktjustin,
Here's what I'd do. Go to your public library and take out everything you can on your destination. Read, read, read. You will find all kinds of information in travel books. If you have a Barnes & Noble in your area, go see what their books say--they are newer than library books. Just act like you're thinking of buying the books. Take mental notes. Then go online when you get home and look for sites owned by the visitor's & convention bureaus, visitor centers, etc. Many of those sites helped us last year on our first cruise, which was to Bermuda for our 25th anniversary. Good luck & best wishes for your honeymoon. And don't forget to smuggle your own booze on board. Take a plastic bottle with a zippered cover along so you can save money on booze out at the pool (or fill it with fruit drinks from the buffet). LOL.

My prices will be from l999. In St. Lucia we rented a taxi. I think it was $40. He took us North to Caribelle Batik. We arrived before the excursion. They showed us how they paint fabric with melted wax then dye it several different colors. They sell dresses, t-shirts, hairbands, linens, etc. We left just as the bus was arriving. Then he took us to Reduit Beach. It is pronounced red we. The beach is public. We walked through a gorgeous hotel, the St. Lucian Rex I believe to get to the beach and we used their bar. In Barbados there is a mall at the dock. There is a tourist info. booth there. We wanted to do the glass bottom boat on our own. They told us what to tell the taxi driver. I don't remember the cost. When we returned to the dock my husband wanted to head to the ship but, my daughter and I wanted to go to a beach. My husband asked the man at the tourist info. booth if he could put us in a cab with a driver he knew. The cost was $4.00. We rented an aqua trike at the beach and peddled around on the water. We took a van back to the dock with a bunch of other passengers for another $4.00.
