Mike, my hubby and I are booked on Horizon's Christmas cruise 12/19 - 12/29, leaving out of Tampa. The itinerary looks great, and spending Christmas Day out on the open seas sounds wonderful!! My hubby is estatic at the thought of not having to drag all the decorations out again this year!

I just booked the Horizon 11 night cruise to the Carribean over Thanksgiving. I think this is the first cruise for this new itinerary. I will let you know. I have not been on the Century, only the Zenith and loved the Zenith. Being the sister ship, I am sure I will love the Horizon. From what I have read, the Horizon is much smaller than the Century but more personable. And look at the price difference. Have a great trip on whatever and I am so excited I could split (which I will if I don't diet before the cruise)

Horizon and Zenith Vs. Century and Mille

Sort of like apples and oranges. Mid size vs big and bigger. No balcony vs some and more. Flow of people is better on the newer ships and can be a bit of a problem on the Zenith & Horizon if full. (Line ups etc. ) Pools on Zenith and H better I think but they don't have the Tpools. Everything else Celebrity is equal so to speak. It will be great.

I sailed the Horizon in June 2001 and the Century in Sept 2001.

I personally liked the Century better. I received better service on the Century. However, the Horizon was fine. I thought it was great at the time, but when I went on the Century it was just a cut above. But, this can vary I think all depending on which servers, stewards etc you get each time. The staff we had on the Century was just a cut above!

Both destinations were great. I took the Horizon to Bermuda which is one of my all time favorite ports. I took the Century to the Western Carribean which was also great!

Hope you have a great time.

To those of you going on the new 11-night cruise on Horizon, we're going on it in Jan. Let me know how you like the itinerary. We booked it last Jan. while on the Summit. They had just put it together and at that time it went to Turks & Caicos rather than Nassau. Don't know why they changed, but we've never been to Nassau, so that's ok.

The Horizon was the first modern ship we cruised on - Alaska 1996. Really liked it at the time, esp. the America's Cup Club during the day. Since then, we've been on the Mercury (W. Carib, 1999), Zenith (Panama Can., 2000) and Summit (Carib, 2003). The latter was breathtaking and we really liked the Mercury, too. They're all nice ships, just give you a different kind of experience. The restaurants on the H & Z are more intimate than the grand, two-story ones on the newer ships. More like the ones on the Princess ships.
