Our cruise leaves from Port Everglades and we're flying in to Ft. Lauderdale. Any recommendations? Have you stayed at a hotel with a free shuttle from the airport?

Any receommendations/restaurants/hotels, etc. and those to stay away from would be appreciated.

Welcome to Cruise @ddicts.

We have stayed at the Embassy Suites many time both pre and post cruise. They are located on 17th Street. They are close to the new Harbor Shops -- just to the side of the hotel. There are many shops and restaurants there. The Embassy Suites also has a new restaurant E-Spot -- we eat there a lot.

They no longer have free shuttle service to the pier. But it is close to the pier and cost about $12 taxi ride with tip.

We much prefer Hyatt Pier 66 on 17th Street Causeway, five minutes from the dock. We've stayed there for many years and never disappointed with our stay. Beautiful grounds with huge pool. Wonderful big lobby bar, fabulous breakfast room...... Nice.

No shuttle but a taxi costs under $10.

If you want to be near the beach, Bahia Mar is a nice place. It's right on A1A, with a pedestrian bridge from the hotel property to the beach.

Near the docks, the "new" Ft Lauderdale Hilton Marina on SE17 St Causeway is newly refurbed.

Pier 66 is worth it for the food and service. Well, it was the last time I stayed there. ;)

Lots of choices ... and a short stay in FLL is a great, relaxing prelude to any Carib cruise! :)

Actually it depends on how much you wish to spend. Ramada Inn is not near the terminal, is about $100 but I do not like it for I do not drive and it is not near any malls. Holiday Inn Express is about a block from Embassy Suites. The whole area has several hotels and is near restaurants and across from a strip mall. Near by also is Walgreens.

Thanks for all your help. I'm also looking at the possibility of a free shuttle from the airport and possibly to the cruise terminal. I know we will want to visit a wine/liquor store to buy a few bottles to take along.

Hope we get a good deal on the tickets. I think I prefer to book closer to the date of the cruise... so I don't get overly excited... then I'm disappointed because I've waited Oh So Long.

My friends/family all say I am a "Cruise Addict". That about sums up the truth of the matter. I kinda live from "cruise to cruise."

If you think of any other hotels or visit Ft. Lauderdale before this September/October, please let me know. I will wait a while to book.

We have stayed at the Comfort inn on Sterling road a few times. There is free shuttle and a large shopping center near by and lots of fast foods. the price is cheap also!
