Hotel in Mobile Ala before cruise

Hello , I have been reading on this website for years and decided to join.
My wife and I are going on 1st Carnival cruise in Dec. out of Mobile.
We have been on 7 Royal Caribbean and want to try Carnival.
I am looking for a hotel IN Mobile to stay in the night before cruise and leave car (Park and Cruise specials) considering Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Historic District , Holiday Inn Downtown Historic Mobile, and any others you guys have experience with.
Read that the Hampton was walking distance from port which seem nice , not having to wait on shuttle, but also that it had bad customer service.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Hoping for best cruise ever, but any cruise is better than none.

Actually, the Hampton, the downtown Holiday Inn, Riverview Plaza, Battlehouse Hotel are all within walking distance of the cruise terminal. Oh yeah, I forgot the Admiral Semmes Hotel; and there are others in the area. I believe all of these have park & cruise offerings.
