Hotel stay before the cruise in Los Angeles

Hi,

Thinking on going on a cruise that leaves from Los Angeles March 15, 2009. We would like to arrive in Los Angeles two days prior to the cruise. Does any one know of a nice hotel close to the pier that they would recommend? Also how far from the airport would the hotel be? Two that the Travel agent has recommended are the Holiday Inn, in San Pedro and the Marriott in Long Beach.

Any comments would be a great help!

A few years ago I stayed at the Marina Hotel San Pedro at the Port of Los Angeles. It is a Doubletree hotel and very nice but a little more expensive. There is a Best Western and a Holiday Inn close by as well. Here's a link to the Hotels By The Pier website that many @ddicts use.

I think that there is a Crowne Plaza over there. We're staying at the Crowne Plaza at LAX pre-crusie. I know you can bid for travel on lots of sights. We got ours for $59 for one night. Friends got the one by the pier for $65.
