Hotel suggestions for Tampa cruising on Legend in August

My wife and I are going on Legend in August and I have no idea about where to stay in Tampa. We would like to be near the port, however I know that is not always possible. Does anyone have any suggestions.


P.S. Is there a car rental drop off near the port with shuttle service?

Stay at the Marriott Waterside.... Really nice on the channel, also next to the convention center, St. Pete Time Fourm, History Museum, and Channelside. The Hotel is a short walk away from the terminal(The hotel is on the Tampa River Walk which connects to the port). Im pretty sure there is a Enterprise rent a car shop across the street at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Theres really no need for a shuttle unless you use it from the airport or where ever.

Embassy Suites Hotel is nice but can be pricey at times.

I love the Sailport Waterfront Suites at Rocky Point. It is right on Tampa Bay.

Thanks for all the input! Is the Marriott within walking distance to the port or do they have a shuttle to the port?
