The hotel we stayed at in Galveston last yr before our cruise is still closed (LaQuinta) and most of the others are full already. We need only one room for Mar 14 one night. Any suggestions - it doesn't have to be the Taj Mahal - just clean! Perhaps something on I-45 - semi-close - we like to go early and watch the ships come in.

Thanks for your help!

We are staying in Super 8 the 14th. It is in La Marque, TX. There is a Travel Lodge there also. This is about 15 to 20 minutes away from Galveston. Its right on 45. They are both Ok.

Lowest price I can find on the island for your travel date is the Beachcomber Inn at $110.00.

Why don't you try Priceline or Hotwire?

Thanks for your help - we reserved the Super 8 in LaMarque (16 miles to Gal) for 75.00 per night - we always go to the pier and watch the ships pull in - we'll just have to leave earlier that morning.

Thanks again Karen

We stayed there January 10. Not pleased with this Motel. Lots of Ike devistation in the area still, and this motel is an older model. Restoration work after a huricane takes many many months, and this may be why the motel was in the condition we found.

Several people moved on down the freeway one exit to the Roadway Inn ( two of our table mates were movers).

For what it's worth, I'd stay on the northern side of Houston ( less Ike damages ) and drive on down early morning. It will take about 1 1/2 hr from northern Houston.
