Hotels in San Juan

My wife and I are looking at a Southern Caribbean cruise in April of 2010 and are wondering if anyone could suggest a nice hotel to stay at in San Juan for a 1 night pre-cruise stay. Preferably close to the terminal.

There aren't any hotels that are really "near" the pier..most are 15-20 mins. away by cab. We stayed at a Comfort Inn in the Conado (sp?) area..a few blocks from the beach, shops & restraunts..it was less than $100 a nite...many people do well finding a hotel on priceline for SJ...

Love the Sheraton OSJ,but its not close to the terminal..................but in a great area to walk around,

A nice hotel but not near the pier at all. We stayed in April at the Intercontinental. Right on the beach. Very nice cafe out near the beach that serves a good lunch and dinner. Very near the airport and we got it for a good price on Priceline.

I'll cast my vote for the Caribe Hilton. It's a beautiful hotel with a wonderful restaurant. Only downside is that they no longer have a casino.

The Normandie is one I recommend. It has a nautical theme that is great for a pre cruise. The Sheraton in Old San Juan is also popular. The Condado area is more of a resort district but further away from the cruise docks.

My preference is the Caribe Hilton, but I use my points for that. I have stayed at the Intercontinetal getting the rate by using Pricelne. It is a great hotel also.

We stay at the Intercontinental several years back. Nice hotel, expensive unless you get it thru priceline etc. or use points
