How are the gratuities handled?

You may as well consider me a cruising newbie. I did a weeklong Windjammer cruise about 17 years ago, and haven't cruised since (no, I'm not vacation-challenged... I usually timeshare). My mid-20's daughters and I are cruising on the Celebrity Zenith on the 11th, and I have a question regarding the gratuities. I may think of a bunch more questions over the next week, but this is it for today. :)

I know how much to tip, but how are the gratuities actually collected/distributed? What is the process? Is this done in cash or can it be put on my onboard account? I remember just a little about the proces on the Windjammer, but I'm sure it may be quite different on Celebrity.

Tips can be handled either in cash or by charging to your shipbpoard account. To have them added to your account, go to the customer service desk sometime during the cruise and make the request. Otherwise, if you do nothing, you will tip in cash on the final evening of the cruise, using the little envelopes they will leave in your room.

Should you choose to do it via your account, you still give the envelope and a little "chit" to the service personnel to alert them to expect Celebrity to ante up the cash in your behalf.

Don't worry, you will hear and read a ton of helpful information about tipping during your cruise!

Welcome back to cruising. You'll enjoy Zenith.
