How can I get moved into an unsold balcony cabin?

I have an interior cabin on Elation in January. I see that there are still many balcony cabins available on the same deck. We are past guests, and have another cruise booked in May, as well. So here's my question... has anyone had any luck begging their way into an upgrade at the check-in? What do they do with the cabins which are still unsold at time of departure? Would it be better to talk to Carnival before departure, or maybe the Purser after boarding? I wouldn't mind spending a little more for the balcony, and it seems that an empty cabin is an empty cabin, whether it is interior or suite. And I am not too proud to beg.

Please, has anybody had any success in this?

Ah, I do like a dreamer! LOL

What will likely happen is that the cabins will all be sold out prior to your cruise; however, even on the off-chance that it isn't......you would have to pay the difference between your interior cabin and the balcony cabin, at the advertised rate. No deals to be had. Sorry.

those balconies you see are suites. More then likely those suites willbe sold in the two months that you are waiting to go-- I doubt very much that you can get a suite with booking an inside--- the people who booked the oceanviews will get upgraded to the suites first -- and those who paid the most for those.

If you want a balcony you will be paying the difference between what you paid for the inside to the going rate on the balcony.
