Hello all this is very important to me.. This will be my first cruise, I am 25 and like to drink and stay up late. My girlfriend is 20 an cannot drink in the U.S.. Is there a drinking age on the ships??? I have narrowed my ship search to a few (that I can afford) Carnival seems nice and there is also the Century by Celebrity for 7 days or the new ship by Holland America the Oosterdam for 7 days... The price difference is only 100$.... I am open to all suggestions from people who have done this before!!!! Thanks for all the help.

I think Carnival is a great option for you -- the action on the ship goes on all night. The food and service are great, the ships and itineraries are awesome and it is a GREAT VALUE for the money. One does have to be 21 to drink on all cruise ships unless you are married. Which Carnival ship and itinerary are you looking at?

I am in the same situation. My boyfriend is 25 and I am 20. We are going on a Carnival cruise at the end of this week. On carnival the drinking age is 2, stictly enforced. But, if you are going to ports of call in Mexico, she could drink there at her age, off the ship, of coarse. There is also sneaking alcohol into your stateroom, if that is your bag, just try to not get caught. I would choose Carnival, because for your age group (like mine) Carnival is more of a youthful, party - type cruise. I have not been on Celebrity, but I have heard that it is alot more "upper class" if you will. Sure carnival may not be the most ritzy cruise line out there, but you will have a blast, there is a ton to do. Another option...I think that there are a few cruise lines (Norweigen(sp?) and Royal Carribean come to mind, but I am not sure) have 18 year old drinking policies, so that might be an option too. For the money though, I would do Carnival. So she can't drink....she can stay up late and party with you, and then when you get totally plastered you will have someone sober to roll you back to your room! : ) Good luck with whatever you choose!

Of the ships you list for your age group I would pick Carnival. Celebrity would be a lot more formal and on average an older group of passengers and Holland America generally caters to a much older group of passengers and is geared toward an older group. They all will have passengers of all ages but on Average Carnvial will have more people in your age range.
