How good is the Celebrity Cruise?

We booked the Europe trip with flights on Celebrity cruise web in May 2023
The flight from Seattle to Amsterdam was late more than 2 hours (the paper said it was 1.5 hours late, but actually it was more than 2 hours late, (compare to the time on the tickets). That is the reason we missed the transfer flight from Amsterdam to Barcelona, Spain, where to start the cruise trip. We called the customer service for help but they were not helping much except telling us to catch the cruise at the next stop, which is at Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
We had no choice but to fly to Barcelona that day, booked a hotel, spent the night and took the flight to Palma de Mallorca the next morning and boarded the cruise.
We had to pay for hotel, flight, taxi,...to get to the next stop.
We request the cruise to re-imburse the expenses that cause by the mis-flight. The cruise replied:" I am afraid to say that we cannot offer reimbursement for flights disruption as this is needed to be addressed directly with your airline company, as we do not have control over flight delays."
I think I booked the flights on their web with the cruise trip, that is more expensive than book on airline. So they have responsibility to any mis-flights and the expenses caused by the delay.
They got the benefit from selling the flights but they just walked away when there is issue!

Sorry, but I agree with Celebrity on this one. They have no responsibility for airline delays just as a conventional TAs do not have any responsibility for any missed/delayed flights just because a person bought the air tickets through them. Celebrity Air is only acting as a travel agent for the convenience of agreeing to put most of your trip under one TA; them. Also you get the advantage of not paying the costs of the ai travel the day you would have made the reservations with your selected airline.

The perfect example of why a traveler should always buy travel insurance or become self-insured by not purchasing travel insurance. I hope that you bought trip insurance, and if so, then you will have to file a claim with them. Otherwise you are on the hook for the additional travel costs.

That is not true!

On the cruise we talked with a couple that had the same situation as us. Their flight from Newyork to Amsterdam was late and they missed the flight to Barcelona. But they were lucky. They called the customer service and the customer service helped them to book and paid a hotel, and booked the next flight to Palma.... . The couple did not pay any extra dollars!

I stand by previous post; your friends were very lucky. Do you have travel insurance? If so, they will pay you for the costs related to "trip delays or interruption". If not find out what Celebrity CSR agreed to pay for your friends delay costs.

The couple does not have insurance.
Of course, I do not have insurance. If I do the insurance will pay me. That is we do not need to talk about.
The thing is I booked flights from Celebrity and when I had problem they just walked away and said that is airline problem!
Celebrity has benefit on selling flights but they do not have responsible for the flights. So what is the point to buy flights from Celebrity. We should buy flights from airlines it is less expensive!

I would never book a European cruise without giving us a couple of days in Europe before the cruise departs . We always have insurance, but I agree Celebrity should have done more .

exactly! that's what I wanted to say, but you did that for me
we all have to take responsibilities and secure our own vacation by spending some more days in Europe before the cruise
