How noisy will this be?

Gambled, booked guarantee. Got bumped up four categories and six decks.

But some upgrade - new cabin's under a laundromat!

Are these things open all night?

If so, please tell me people don't wash clothes in the middle
of the night while on vacation!

Should I ask to be moved at this point, considering this is
supposed to be an upgrade?

Thanks.

Not to worry, the laundry rooms have certain hours and are locked after a certain time in the evening, or I am sure there would be someone deciding to do their wash in the middle of the night. You shouldn't have a problem with noise coming from them during the sleeping hours.
Have a great cruise................and congratulations on that upgrade! :)

Toto is right the laundry does have set hours and they lock them at night. I would not worry about a noise problem.

I did some laundry pretty late at night one time. As a result, I don't think I noticed that the laundry room had restricted hours. (Could this vary by ship?) But, honestly, they don't get thaaaaat much use (certainly not in the wee hours) that I would worry much, even if they happen to be open all night.

Congrats!

One of My worst cruise experience was NEXT to a laundry room. It was on an older ship where the door kept slamming closed each of the 1st 3 nights until 3 AM Each night. I walked down to the pursers desk and expressed my displeasure each night. On the 4th night when we experienced it once again I took care of the problem myself by removing the door from the hinges with my pocket screwdriver, Then I marched down to the pursers desk and told thenm NOT to worry about the laundry room problem as I fixed it by removing the door myself. The door was replaced and the closure unit that was broke was alos replaced the next day and it did get locked from then on to the end of the cruise. It probably does vary by ship as U mention MNCINSE. I also think the newer ships have better facilities that are quieter. They should lock them and most probably do but on occasion I have also seen them open and in use. A trip to the pursers office hopefully will solve the problem if one does exist. So I would NOT worry to much about it but remember a pocket screwdriver always comes in handy. :grin

Thank you all for answering. I appreciate you taking the time.

Will take a chance and stick to what we have. Why get into a lather, right?

Einstein's right. A screwdriver is our friend.
Both the tool and the drink!

Happy vacationing, everyone.

Judy.

I posted this same problem a while back and someone assured me that there was no noise. I,m right across from the laundry room and he was in the same room. He said it was very convenient.judy foreman wrote:

I have never be under one, but there is no way it can be worse than being under a kitchen (be there), or over or under a music lounge.

Some people may wash their cloths all night, but I doubt you would hear it.

Sorry to be a jerk with this statement, but if those things bother you, you really should not book guarantee but the exact room you want where you know what is above and below you. JMHO.

Have a great time.

Judy, yes, the laundromats were used all hours of the day and night after the first few days on ship. I used them myself, but usually during the daytime. They didn't seem to be too noisy in the laundry room, but not having stayed below one, I can't tell you if you'll hear them in your cabin. When in doubt, I say try for another room, if possible.

You won't hear anything at all from the laundry above you. The noise of the machines doesn't really escape the confines of the room itself.
