There is no way to "forcast" what anyplace is going to be. It can be smooth as glass or very rough. Just go and have a wonderful time and don't worry about it.

Ouch San, are you trying to scare them???? I've been in the Western Caribbean twice and never had anything like that. But as I said, rough seas can happen anywhere, anytime. Changeable, just like the home weather......

Me and wife just got back yesterday from Cozumel. The seas the whole trip were terrible. We actually had one day on the way back where it was calm enough to get out on the pool deck and do a little celebrating. We encountered 15 to 18 ft waves and wind up to 70mph. I have never been sea sick and have never taken any meds, but after our first day out of Galveston I got up the next morning and asked my wife for a bonine. We had cabinets and drawers opening and closing through the night. I thought there were ghosts aboard. The creeking and banging sounded as if we were on a pirate ship. Would we do it again? Hell yah!!! We love to cruise and this was our second roughest one to be on, but still had a great time.

We were to tender to Cozumel immediately before Christmas and the seas were so rough the captain skipped the port. Interestingly, the tenders did come out to the ship and one even tied up. We stood on the outside promenade and watched the top deck of the tender come up even with us and then plunge back down. We waited for a couple hours and then headed out to sea. The captain reported that the winds were upwards of 50 mph. When we did stop in Belize, where it was very calm, we met people from a Carnival ship that were on that ships first tender to shore. They enjoyed their day at the beach and when they arrived back to tender to the ship were told they were the one and only tender to go ashore. Apparently, the rest of the passengers had to wait in the harbor until the last people from the one tender came back. My assistant and her husband just returned from Cozumel and said the seas there were very rough. They did tender, but the ride was roller coaster like.

Hard to tell what the sea will be like on any given day. But, as is often said here: a bad day on a cruise beats a good day at work. Looking forward to the next cruise.

January 19th it was very rough. But naybe only as they neared New York. Norwegian Spirit passengers said:

.."passengeres returning from a southern Caribbean cruise complained about heavy seas and a series of high waves -- some as high as 50 feet -- during the leg from Tortola to New York. Several windows were smashed and 11 cabins were flooded.

Just returned from western caribbean on Voyager of the Seas on Saturday...two of our three shore excursions were cancelled because of bad weather and high seas....but it didn't affect us having a good time...just caused our sea pass account to be a little higher because of our bar bill...ship was rocking quite a bit...they closed off access to the deck one night because it was so rough...hope this helps!!!
