Dream Vacation

My husband surprised me on Christmas morning with a trip on Carnival Glory, leaving on Feb 3, 2007! We haven't done the Eastern Caribbean before. With only a few weeks to plan shore excursions, what suggestions do you have for the following ports: Nassau Bahamas, St. Thomas, St. Maarten? We're in our early 40's, enjoy outdoor and water-based activities.

Carnival Glory looks like a great ship - anyone been on it lately - comments/suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

Jody

P.S. I know - he's a great guy - definitely a keeper :couple

Oh, lucky, lucky you! What a wonderful husband you have!! We were on the Glory a few years ago and had a wonderful time.

In Nassau we did the Blue Lagoon tour which was really pretty but I think I'd opt for something else there. It was about an hour boat ride there and we only got a couple of hours there, not really enough time to do anything. Hopefully someone else can give you a better suggestion.

In St. Thomas we went over to St. Johns and did the Trunk Bay snorkeling excursion. It was really beautiful there and the beach was soo nice but the snorkeling was terrible. We didn't see one fish the whole time. Maybe we were just there on a bad day. The boat ride over was about an hour long if memory serves me right. When we got back we walked around and did some shopping. Some friends did the tram ride up to the top of the island and I really wish we had done that. They said the views were amazing.

St. Maarten was by far one of our favorite stops ever! We loved this island. We rented a jeep near the pier with a couple we were traveling with while another couple we were with rented mopeds. We weren't that adventurous! We drove around the island, very easy to get around, and stopped off for a few hours at Orient Beach. This is a clothing optional beach just to let you know. There were some interesting characters walking around to say the least! The beach and water were gorgeous here. We rented chairs and umbrellas for a nominal fee and had some great drinks on the beach. We rented wave runners here and had a blast. After we drove over Marigot on the french side and had lunch at a little cafe overlooking the water then did some shopping. We had such a fun, relaxing day in St. Maarten. I can't wait to go back someday!

The ship itself was great and we had so much fun with our group of 16. Happy cruising to you and your husband!
