Just got back from Alaska on the Norweigan Star and it was spectacular!!!!! I give great kudos to the ship, I know its my first cruise but she was beautiful!!!!!I ate and ate and probalby gained 10 pounds. We ate basically in the Versailles, and it was all gourmet dining breakfast thru supper. The soups, appetizers, entrees and desserts were all excellent. The service was fantanstic, everyone on the star was cheerful, happy and vey helpful. We made friends with many of the service and dining companions as well.My husband took tons of pictures and when he gets them back I will post some of them if you like. Juneau was very nice and Captain Larrys whale excursion unbelievable. We had a small group and we saw a big school of orca whales, and humpback whales and sea lions. His daughter who drove us back to ship personally after told us he started all the whale watching tours in Juneau and if not for him none of the ships would have chartered bigger boats to take you guys out and that he trained all the other boats. It was fun to watch and hear other boats calling and asking where he was finding all the action as they were clueless, and had to follow his lead. My husband lived on top of his boat but I got to talk to Captain Larry quite a while inside and he taught me so many wonderful things about whales. Did you know Orcas are really from the dolphin family, and that humpback whales stay under for 8 and a half minutes before coming to surface, I timed and he was correct. Anyway great!!!!! In Skayway the train ride was breathtaking on the White Pass. I will write a better review later in review section. My husband again stayed out on the end of train outside with his cameras shooting away. Other people kept asking him to take pictures for them.Ketchican I could live there any day. I am half indian so we went to Saxman Village. The totems were awesome as well as the carving and dances. When we got back to town it poured and I ran around in the rain loving every minute as well as Creek Street. Canada was nice too and Butchart gardens was breathtaking but I wouldnt want to live there. Give me the USA. Anyway I will write a full review later, too tired now but cruising did get under my skin, I AM A CRUISE ADDICT!!!!!!!! We booked for next year already the 27th of August on a brand new ship The Pride of America to Hawaii!!!!!! I can not wait. Less than a year to go. Special thanks to Howie and Halfdome who made my trip even better with their suggestions. Korina

Great to hear you had such a wonderful time. Yes, please post photos.

Did you get to Mendenhall Glacier and up the Mt. Roberts tram?

I feel a balcony is the way to go in Alaska. I would think in Hawaii as well. Too much scenery passing by all the time.

We loved NCL (the old Sky) on our first Alaskan cruise. Honestly our experiences on HAL and Celebrity up there were a bit better but NCL was a better value. Hey, the scenery's the same right?

Enjoy Hawaii on the new Pride ship.

I am glad you enjoyed Alaska. It is one amazing place. I knew you would enjoy a whale watch with Capt. Larry, he does a great job and is a quite interesting person.

Congrats on booking a cruise of Hawaii. The nice thing about cruising Hawaii is that every island is different and has something special to offer. If you are lucky the volcano will be flowing heavy and your ship will sail by it at night which is a great site.

Have a great time on your Hawaiian cruise next year.
