Our dear dog, Charlie, has taken a turn for the worse....my heart is broken....

The vet said it is time, and no more can be done...

DS is coming home tomorrow and he will go with my husband to take her to the vet's office. I cannot go.

I feel like I'm losing my best friend, and I've cried a thousand tears. I'm losing my best friend, who has stayed by my side through all my trials.....

please keep us in your prayers.

Reggae,

My heart goes out to you. Have been ther and no matter what is said, it's still painfull. Tpealse take what solace you can in knowing that the more it hurts, the greater the love ...

I've been there a few times now & certainly understand your pain. Although this will not help your broken heart, keep in mind that your Charlie will now be free from pain or suffering. He has depended on you to do the right thing for him--you are doing the right thing & there are many cruise addict furbabies waiting for him to come play with them.

(((((((Reggae))))))) I'am so very saddened to hear this. I'm sure you know the poem titled, "Rainbow Bridged", all of us C@'s have had to experience this at one time or another, but that doesn't make your pain any easier to bear. All you can do is aknowledged in the fact that your doing what is best for "Charlie" even tho it is breaking your heart. All "furbabies" including your "Charlie" have to rest in the fact that they "Depend" on us to do the "right-thing" for them when the time comes. My thought & prayers are with you and your family at this time, remember, give yourself time to grieve, but also remember the good times. :angel

My thoughts are with you as I will also soon be facing this time with our 14 year old dog, PJ. It is always so difficult, even when we know it is the kindest thing to do for our dear beloved furry family members. May God ease your burden. Prayers......:angel

Hugs to you Reggae. I can't add to what the others have said. This is painful to read, as we are also close to that time with our Buttons. One can't really prepare for it. Just know that we all care.

I don't think that those who aren't furbaby people can understand that our furbabies are members of our families, and loved just as much. It is so difficult to say goodbye, especially since we are in the place to make the decision for them. But that's one of the blessing of being owned by a furbaby, we can make that decision and help them along. I am sorry you have to make that choice, but know in your heart it is one of the greatest ways you can show your love. I hope you can find joy in the lifetime you shared together. ((((reggae))))

Losing a best friend is hard, whether they have two or four legs. We lost our Smokey three years ago and the tears still come whenever I read that one of my @ddict friends is dealing with the same situation.

Reggae.....Like many here I know your sorrow. I am so sorry that you have to make the decision for your dear Charlie. When we lost our little Impy the vet sent us this poem. I know that if Charlie could talk this is what he would say to you.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
