I have a luggage question

We are taking a cruisetour in June '06. We are cruising first, from Vancouver to Seward. We will be picked up at Seward, taken to Alyeska for the night, transferred to Anchorage, flown to Fairbanks, then returned to Anchorage via the train, making stops in Denali, and Talkeetna. I am concerned about the amount of luggage that we will have. It would be nice if, once we get to Anchorage airport, we could possibly put one or two pieces of luggage in a storage locker to be picked up when we return to fly home. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, is it costly?

Most likely your tour operator will give you the option of leaving bags in storage. The bags will then remain on the bus in the locked storage area. Unfortunately there are no longer lockers available in US airports. I also suggest you try and take the bare minimum in an overnight size bag to bring to you room each night of the tour portion. I didn't do this and soon came to regret it. I found that while in Alaska there really wasn't anywhere we were not able to go to in blue jeans, it is very laid back.

The blue jeans idea sounds great, but it's been my impression that blue jeans aren't welcome on the cruise ships. So then you have two sets of slacks?

I've read on other posts that on the Alaskan cruises, jeans are more than welcome everywhere except in the dining room. Since this is our first cruise to Alaska, I am taking other peoples word for it and packing mostly jeans, and a couple of pairs of slacks.

If you want to bring slack instead of jeans on the tour portion do so by all means. The less you pack the more room you'll have for the purchases you make along the way.
