I Need help with Formal Night vs Excursion

Good Morning All,

I have a peculiar problem that i need help with. We (6 of us) are scheduled to sail on the Constellation in November to the So Carib. The second day of the cruise we are scheduled to be in Casa de Campo from 1:00 PM until 11:00 PM and I really want to see the Kandella show at Altos de Chavon. However, since i am assuming that this is also formal night, i hate to miss that (i love my new parrot covered vest under my tux).

I emailed Celebrity and got a message that said that formal nights change from sailing to sailing and i wouldn't be able to know that until i got on board. HUH? On my ten cruises, formal nights have ALWAYS been the second night. Therefore i can't even take advantage of booking shore excursions in advance because i'm really not sure what is correct??

Any ideas how i can get the information as to when formal nights really are???

I think you'd be foolish to miss an excursion that greatly interests you just so that you can eat at formal night. Book the excursion. You're traveling and should be able to take in everything you wish to see. Food is available everywhere.

I'm not sure why the formal night is so important, but there will be more than one on your sailing. Enjoy your time in Casa de Campo. If the vest is that important, wear it to the Kandella show...lol

Geezer:

I also like the formal night however, I've seen the Kandella show & suggest that you don't miss it. Chances are you will go on many other cruises in the future so there will be many formal nights. You may not have this port in your itinerary again, so don't miss the show.

Decisions, decisions, decisions....

I agree- book the excursion. Besides I thought they usually only had formal nights on early ports/at sea days?

I can't remember any formal nights that were not at sea. Book the excursion.

On one of our cruises, there was a formal night on a port day - We had 6 ports in 7 days so there was only one sea day. They did choose a day where we left port around 4 or 4:30 so that early seating could get ready for dinner.
And I have been on a cruise where the first formal night was held on the third night because that was our sea day.
