YES, I thought the ice cream is great. Although it has changed a bit since our last trip. More generic flavors but available all on a regular basis. Before they would have a limited supply and when it is out, it is out. This last trip Oct.-Nov. / Constellation had the basics. Choc, Van, Straw. & a sherbet. Rarely was there Mint chip, my fav. (only once and it was only in the fine dining room as a dessert)
The ice cream is offered mid-days at the first food station headed to the aft behind the pool and glass elevators (both sides of the ship) So make sure you check the selections because they can sometimes vary from one another. ALso they have a soft serve machine with two flavors or a twist if you prefer over the good stuff. All ice cream and sherbert is made in the kitchen onboard (We had a tour in 02)
Save room because during sea days we had wait staff from the dining room come out to the pool side and serve a sorbet to each that was interested.
Now for the Pizza. I was impressed. The Royal Caribean stuff tasted like a bad frozen pizza. This is a definate ship made crust. In fact all of the breads are made and baked on board, daily.
Pizza is served at the pool side grill until 6:00 and again in the cafe until 12:30am daily. Just make sure you select from a moderately fresh pie. (We like hot sauce so we purchased a bottle in Madeira just for Pizza eating enjoyment) If you have craving, you can even order a pizza for one from room service (no charge) It is defineatly a frozen kind but still much better than RCCI's. The room service works off your TV and it is baked and delivered with-in 10-15 minutes.
Now here is a secret that not many know! In the mornings the Cova Cafe (aboard M-class ships) has a selection of pasteries. Now all BUT ONE is served in the dining room at breakfast. The best one is only at the Cova Cafe! This is Croissant with Almond Paste inside and sliced almonds on top. They are baked in the morning and are available from apx. 8:30 on. (Best when eaten warm). We ate in the dining room but always stopped at the Cova for a couple to eat with breakfast. A couple of passengers complained to the staff that they were not told about these pastries. We got a good laugh like there was not already enough food to eat!
