Icy Strait Point is located 22 miles from the entrace to Glacier Bay National Park. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity have become the first companies to call at Icy Strait Point, Alaska's first private cruise destination.

One option offers the rare opportunity to get a close-up glimpse of brown bear in the wild - from the safety of a specially constructed viewing platform. Marine mammals are the focus of another outing to Point Adolphus, a spot where humpback whales are known to congregate.

There is a four-mile scenic bike ride that takes in points of local interest. There is also a rain-forest nature tram, which meanders at a leisurely pace through the surrounding woods for a look at the indigenus flora and fauna.

There is also a cannery tour, which re-creates an employees first day on the job at the Hoonah Packing Co. circa 1912. Employees form a line to pick up their aprons and clock in before proceeding to orientation, where they learn the cannery process step by step.

Of course, no Alaskan port-of-call would be complete without a salmon bake, as well as opportunities to go glacier flightseeing or salmon sportfishing.
