If you like inside cabins, what would the deck difference mean? Better, or worse?

I like the dark and quiet of an inside cabin, helps me get the rest I desperately need.
I wonder what the difference would be staying on different decks??

Can anyone give me a pointer or two?

Peaches, we like the price of the interior cabins as well! We always try to get upgraded to a higher deck. This can be an incredible bonus on a ship like the Sensation, where the highest deck has inside cabins. There, you have access to a forward deck that is like a huge balcony just 30 or so feet from your door! In the other direction, you walk past the elevators to the deck overlooking the pool. We did not experience more "ship movement" that high up, as many people warned us. Also, on most ships, the higher decks are closer to the FOOD and entertainment. Study the deck plans and see how high you can go!

Don B. has a point. However, if you have to take an evevator, then it doesn't matter what deck you are on.

If you can get upgraded to a higher deck that's fine but I wouldn't pay more money for a higher deck, especially with an inside cabin. I also like to be on a deck where there are no public areas, just passenger cabins because it is quieter with less foot traffic. Technically the ride is smoother on the lower decks but most people don't notice any difference.

MBandy, THanks for your reply. I do want to get away from public areas and foot traffic.

You are appreciated for your reply, and thanks for taking the time!!!!

After 16 cruises I can tell you that I think that you need to look at the floor plan. In general, you pay more for a higher deck. If you have the option of an inside cabin on deck 8 or dec 3, I would look at the floor plans and selects one of the upper available decks. Why? Well I do most of my stuff near the top of the ship. It is very easy to go to breakfast and then pop back in your cabin if it is just down the stairs. This can be nice when you don't want to carry certain items around.

Similarly, if you spend most of your time in a lounge or var, then you may prefer a deck nearby. I often take elevators only if I am going up or down 2 or more flights, so if my cabin is one flight away from where I am, I often just use the stairs and not have the wait involves with an elevator, and I get the added bonus of exercise.

As for noise, I actually find having a cabin in a long hallway with a hundred other cabins to be louder than being located elsewhere. Why? Well, you often hear doors slamming, kids running and yelling and parents telling kids what to do. Also, many times people congregate outside their cabins, even leaving the cabin doors open and kind of party there, which can certainly be louder than other areas of the ship.

Bottom line, less cabins around means less chance of one of these situations happening near your cabin.

If you like the peace of an inner deck do not make the mistake I made. We had a free upgrade to the Verendah. It was horrible. All day long there was the stomping of the Lido on top of us and the conveneience meant nothing. Last day trying to get downstairs was HORRIBLE> I will never ever go for a free upgrade. Like the dark inside? Stay on deck one or two.

We always book an inside aft cabin on Verandah deck. Close to the aft pool which is where we like to hang out. The daytime activity on the Lido deck didn't bother us since we were the ones on Lido. Also, no activity at night above us so it's very quiet.

I agree -- look at the deck plan. We always avoid being near a bar that will be loud late into the night. As for being near the pool, that's fine but we like to walk the ship anyway, so it's never really bothered us to walk back and forth to our cabin, regardless of where it's located.
