I'm in Trouble with Pucci

He absolutely won't heed reprimands NOT to lick his surgical scar, so I had to resort back to the cervical collar this morning. He now keeps his back towards me.

The Vet's office said to try Bitter Apple around the area (not on the scar), so I'll see how that works after I pick some up this morning.

To make matters worse, I must break the news to Pucci that I'm going out of town and must pack today.

Calgon - that cartoon is sooooo appropriate! :(

Jeanie - yes, you're correct.

Collar off, Bitter Orange (new one) dabbed on. Pucci looks, but hasn't touched.

I gave Pucci "the news" - he looked up at me startled, then got tears in his eyes and put his head down. He is so under foot that I really have to watch where I step.

I should have most of my packing finished later today - important word is *should*.

Poor Pucci. Still wondering why you had him cut up and now you tell him you are leaving ? ? ? Gentle pats and scritches to him.

Honestly, sounds like the treatment we get from Timber when he sees the suitcases come out . . . . .

We do hope Pucci gets better soon and understands that you have work to do.

Kiss used to get those sad puppy dog eyes when Susan would break out the suit cases.

Ginny had a paw issue this past week. Nothing serious, just a little infection between the toes. The vet put a cute little purple bandage on it so she couldn't lick it. It is all better now. Glad Pucci is on the mend.

Poor little Pucci......I see a lot of loving in his future tonight! At least he will be well taken care of while you are gone and I'm sure he'll be spoiled rotten (even more) by the time you get back. In case I don't get back on the boards the rest of the weekend (I'm out of town at my parent's), I hope you have a wonderful cruise Mary Ann!

Awww.. they do know how to push our buttons, don't they? Kiefer has it down pat... he gives THAT look and I feel sooo bad, and all I'm doing is leaving the house to go to work. He's still home with his dad!

Explain to the little guy that you are doing this for HIM, not for you. Someone's gotta pay for those steaks he gets every evening! He'll understand...

Oh my.....I knew Pucci was not going to be a happy laddie when he found out you were "on the road again" .... especially having just gone through surgery!! I'd cry if I didn't feel well and my momma left too! Special skritches to that little darling from all of us here!

Mama Duck, yopu are going to owe him so big time!

Of course, GloBug, Gordon, SunFlower and I will be in even bigger trouble when we get back. Not only will we have abandoned the boys for two weeks, but, will be visiting with some sled dogs while on our cruise. Kiefer and Cody will know. All it's going to take will be one sniff and we'll all be gettting the cold shoulder. Glo's other critters (cats, birds and fleas?) They could probably care less .... But, the doggers? They wurry.

Thank you, all. My heart sank when I broke the news to Pucci this morning. The two of us, as I'm certain is no surprise, are really inseparable...and yes, it's VERY difficult for me to leave him post-op. Fortunately, most of my packing is done so I plan to give him my undivided attention tomorrow. Pucci goes on vacation Monday.

Michael - I'm glad Ginny's paw infection has resolved itself. A benign growth between the pads on one of Pucci's paws created the necessity for surgery. I hope the Bitter Orange resolves the licking issue - I hate having to put the cervical collar on him.

My dear Paesana - actually, the dreaded words for Pucci are "Mommy is going bye-bye". You can literally see the sadness on his face. I'll do my best to get some R&R on this cruise. You and Mark take care.

Nita - enjoy your visit with your parents. I plan on giving Pucci lots of cuddles, unless he ignores me. :(

Glo - our furbabies do, indeed, know how to push our guilty buttons. Even though I know Pucci is well cared for during my absences, it's still very difficult for me to leave him. At least you can leave Kiefer to go to work. Pucci refuses to be left alone, even for me to go marketing.

Beryl - Pucci thanks you and your furbabies for the scritches. Surgery so close to this cruise definitely wasn't done on purpose. :(

Calgon - actually, Pucci has never been jealous, merely overly attached to me. You, SunFlower, Glo and Flash Gordon will LOVE visiting the sled dogs. I did this several years ago in winter near Fairbanks. It was fascinating. If my mobility were better, I'd visit sled dogs on my cruise, but...

Actually, when I get back, Kiefer is overjoyed to see me. The birds act like I was never gone. The CATS! Well, the one who is most attached to me walks up to me, turns his back, and won't talk to me for days. The other cats say YOU AREN'T THE ONE WHO OPENS THE CANS OF CAT FOOD, SO WE COULD CARE LESS.

Wanna bet Glo????? Do I ever know "the look"! That time Cocoa climbed into my Vera Bradley carry on bag just about did me in. Talk about pushing buttons! Mama Duck, you are in SOOOOO much trouble. We're all happy you're able to go, so have a fantastic time!

I know that Pucci loves you and will miss you tremendously, But.. I have a feeling that he will enjoy his vacation home where he will be pampered while your away.

Pucci is always overjoyed to see me - and I, him. Melinda (the lady who watches him) has been picking me up at the airport with Pucci - seeing the joy in Pucci creates quite a spectacle for onlookers.

Yesterday, when I took my suitcase and carryon out and placed them on the bed, Pucci was frantically trying to jump in. I restrained him, of course, especially not wanting him to injure his surgery wound. As those owned by furbabies can attest, it's heartbreaking to watch scenes like this. But yes, he does enjoy his buddies when I travel. Pity they're moving out of state this summer.:bawl:

Oh what a shame that they are moving away. It's so hard to find someone too trust and feel comfortable with caring for Pucci, not only for you but for Pucci too.

Mary Ann

I am so sorry to hear that Pucci's care-takers are moving away for the summer.

Hopefully she will be back for all your other cruises.
