Hello fellow cruise addicts. I am in a little bit of chaos right now. I come from a family of cruise addicts and my kids are cruise addicts as well. We are planning a 13 person family trip. One our first choices was the Adventure of the Seas 7 day out of San Juan. When looking @ the schedule and we saw it doesn't debark untill 10pm. We don't understand this and would like to know why and when we can get on the ship. If we could board and enjoy the day aboard the ship then it wouldn't be a problem. A thought we had was that they were giving us a day on the ship to compensate for the one less sailing day. Please remply we are dying to book a cruise and this information is very valuable.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding one of the many reasons for a later departure is for the people flying in from the States that same day.

If all goes smooth with the sailing prior, you can still board the ship around the 11:00 am ish time frame.

=yeah suer has it right. It leaves later because of the travel time to get to SJU. You can still board @ 11- Noon.

we are going on this cruise and our cruise documents say that we cannot/should not arrive any earlier than 2 pm to board. Have others experienced that you can board earlier then 2? We don't arrive until 2:30 so it isn't a big issue, but I have a guaranty room and I was hoping to have a good chance for an upgrade:)

Just found out today...........AOS will now leave 8:30pm instead of 10pm.......as of May 2007........

I called in regards to my cruise in NOV and was told by the rep, yes, its true....(at least for mine),but I did hear the May part from somewhere else.........

You might check if you're cruising then.............

Thats too bad, I always enjoyed sailing out late. Watching the lights of the city while we leave is always enjoyable.

Leaving on AOS in 8 days. I have heard that you can get onboard fairly early, but cannot get into your cabin until later in the afternoon. As for the late departure, I am looking forward to my first balcony (port) and hopefully can enjoy the experience leaving SJ with a nice pina colada in hand (or two), one in both hands..hehehe!

We were just on board the AOS in March, and were onboard by Noon. We're also aware that the late sailing was due to late arriving planes. However, due to the number of planes coming in after 6pm, and the fact those passengers could take earlier flights or make other arrangements - it was decided, starting in May that the ship will leave at 8:30pm. Also - watch for an earlier departure from Aruba; they've found that very few guests were staying ashore late into the evening, and I believe are now planning to leave Aruba around 8pm or 8:30pm.

We just got back from the Adventure yesterday. What a great cruise. We got on last Sunday around 12:30 and couldn't get in the cabin till two. they replaced all the beds and have all new bedding. It was really nice. There was the usual things to do so it didn't matter when the ship pulled out. I hated to leave!

Thanks for the information about the times. We are sailing in September and it is scheduled to sail at 8:30PM - wish it were later. The only other port we have stayed late in were Cozumel and Mykonos, Greece. I like the late sailings and wish they kept with the 10PM departure.

Glad to learn that we can still get on the ship at 11AM. I like to be on the ship for lunch. As far as going to the cabin at 2:00PM is concerned, we always go to the cabin and drop our carry-on bags when we get on the ship and have never been stopped. :chef They guide you to the buffet. Once up there you can take another elevator down to your cabin without any one bothering you.
