Inch of Gold

Just a question I've been wondering about . . . is the "inch of gold" they sell on the ships real gold or is it just overlay? I've never looked too seriously at it, not even enough to ask questions. But I'm wondering if I should on this next cruise. Any info???

It's plated gold...it last for a good while, but not forever. My mom got an anklet once a few years ago, and it's still shiny, but she only wears it occasionally.

That's what I assumed. Thanks so much for the input. I'll save my money and get something "good."

I got a bracelet on my first cruise back in 2000 - I still wear it and it still looks good.

Inch of gold is good for $1.00 an inch then you have to buy the clasp which can cost 5 bucks. Still a nice bargain if you got nieces/granddaughters.

We have bought the "pearls by the inch" in Cozumel on several cruises, and have been quite satisfied with them... Wife, daughter, in-laws, all enjoy them regularly, and they still look very nice. We usually get the 18 inch strands. For a little more, you can get graduated sizes. I would recommend these for gifts, etc. I would be interested in hearing if anyone out there has been dissappointed with the pearls.
