Just got back from the two week RT Hawaii cruise on the Infinity. Can't say it was a very good cruise. This was my first time on Celebrity. I have previously cruised with RC and Carnival.

I was disappointed with the food at the main dining and casual eateries. I was tempted to try the SS United States, but did not do so. Maybe I should have, but at $30/person cover charge.. I ending up passing. Service was fair overall on board. Some didn't seem to be happy serving on board. Room attendants were good though.

Weather was rough a couple days on the seas. We we prepared w/ Seaband and meclizine. But my wife was feeling it bad.

The onboard disembarkation process was a mess. It took hours to get off the ship. I overheard at least four other partys state that it was the longest disembarkation they've ever had. Not necessarily Celebrity's fault, but there was a huge bottleneck w/ the immigration/Customs process. Darn Jones Act.

Not sure if I'd cruise Celebrity again. I had high expectations, considering this was supposed to be a "premium" cruise line. I think the low quality of the food really did it for me. Pastries and desserts--at the Cove cafe--were pretty good though. But it was not enough to compensate for everything else.

Food: poor
Service: fair
Entertainment: fair
Value: poor
Overall: poor

Sorry to read that you had a less-than-spectacular cruise. We've taken the Infinity to Hawaii twice, and had a wonderful time both times. I am particularly surprised that the chow was sub-par, since that's one area Celebrity always shines at. Did you try the sushi bar in the evenings? It's very good, and I'm a big sushi fan. You really missed a treat by skipping the SS United States, particularly if your culinary experience in the dining room was so poor. We have always thought that the 14+ day Hawaii r/t was the jewel in Celebrity's crown (done it both on RCI and Celebrity)--it's too bad you had such a rough time of it. We did the itinerary on the Radiance this year and enjoyed that as well, but it wasn't Celebrity (maybe that's good, eh? LOL!).

Well another opinion on the Infinity. Good to hear from you anonymule. A little different than my experiences but .....
I agree with you a little on the SS United States however. We found it to be a Great experience with the service/room/set up etc but if you were/are just going for the food there was not much difference than the dining room which we found just grreat.
Different cruise different time different opionions.
Been thinking about Hawaii though except for those cool sea days which one seems to get coming and going.

BSeaBob-
You've got to take the Hawaii cruise on the Infinity--in addition to a great trip to enchanted islands, one of the headwaiters (Martin S) used to play hockey with Jagr and many other NHL luminaries in the Czech republic (or whatever it was back then!). We always enjoy talking hockey with him, and he keeps up with the games despite the spotty comms on these long cruises. Actually traded NHL sweaters with him on our last cruise! He smoked us out several cruises ago when I wore my Blues sweatshirt one (yes, chilly) morning out of Vancouver and notices us whenever we are aboard now, despite our clever Hawaiian shirt disguises.

Randy..thansk for the tip. I'm sure we will be back on board and will check on him...at the very least we will have friends aboard soon and will get them to check on the "Hockey guy" :)
It takes all kinds to make a ship go eh?
A blue's shirt ? ooohhh!

Hey, Bob-it was a few years back--when the Blues were still a regular in the post-season (remember the McInnis/Pronger/Hull/Turgeon days?). Now I have to make excuses...
Cheers,
