Infinity questions! How about that Midnight Sun?

1. How small is the bathroom on the Infinity in the FV cabins?

2. In the Land of the Midnight Sun (we sail in June!), will the curtains in the FV cabin be light blocking enough to get some sleep when it's sunny out?

3. I just can't imagine it... how light it is at midnight? Is it just twilight light, or full blown bright out?

Hey Glorya!

1. bathrooms in the FV are standard--same as all other non suite cabins on the ship. Nice size rectangular shower. You can see pictures of the bathroom in that link I sent awhile back that has all the details of the FV. Let me know if you need it again.

2. yes, you will be able to sleep when it's light outside. The curtains and drapes are lined so that it's dark inside. Your daughter shouldn't have any difficulty with sunlight keeping her awake. The bedroom is farthest away from the balcony, seperated by the frosted glass partition, so it will be plenty dark where you will be sleeping.

3. it gets to be twilight down where we will be. The "midnight sun" is actually at the more northern latitudes. Remember, we won't be that far up into Alaska. You'd need to go to Fairbanks or farther north to experience the true midnight sun.

We were on the Summit to Alaska for a 13-night cruisetour starting this past July 3...

We were in Sky Suites on the ship and never had a problem with light or sleeping...From Seward on down (and the Infinity doesn't even take you as far north as Seward), it was dark at Midnight...sure it is a short "night", but nowhere near the 24-hours of daylight you get further north...And the curtaibns pretty much blocked out everything...

Now, for the really weird experience, you need to do the trip we did...We landed in Fairbanks on July 3 and spent two nights there...It NEVER got dark...the sun "officially" set at around 12:45 am and rose about a half an hour later--not going far enough below the horizon to make any real difference...

When we got down to Talkeetna, we had an excellent view of Mt. McKinley from our hotel...Our whole bus was outside at about 12:30 taking photos of the sunset over Mt. McKinley...and you would have thought it was late afternoon...I said, wait about 45 minutes and we can get some pictures of sunrise...I went back to my rom but we left the drapes open to enjoy the views...It NEVER got dark...But, we were tired, we slept anyway, falling asleep at around 2 as the sun was again rising in the sky...

But, by the time we got down to the panhandle (look at a map, it's pretty far south), there was again a distinct day and night...

We are looking into booking the Infinity for Alaska on June 9th, I am just doing some research at the moment as I don't have a clue what to expect in Alaska, it is hubby who is keen to go, he is big into nature and wildlife.

Oh Catherine! Join us! I promise you will fall in love with Alaska. I havent' been, but the awesome power of the ice floes, the calving, the wildlife... I am sure that like for Char and her DH, it will become a favorite cruise for us.

Char, do you find that you see something different every time? Do you always use the same cruise line? Do you always book the FV?

I'll tell ya what I liked about the bathroom on the Infinity. Under the sink is a cabinet, and we could put all our toiletries in there and prevent the space from ever seeming cluttered.

I also loved the smell of the soap and the shampoo. Apparently the womens dressing room in the spa area had small bottles of the shampoo. A nice souvenir.

For my tastes, I'd take the one bar of Celebrity soap and one bottle of shampoo over the messy basket of products in the Celebrity bathroom.
