INSURANCE

I stongly recommend it, I always get the insurance, even for next years cruise. You NEVER KNOW when something unexpected will occur. I never had that problem, but know others that had. Unfortunately some found out the hard way that they were not getting ANY money back, others who had the insurance did. Don't you think it is worth loosing the $99.00 a person for a 7 day cruise than over $1000.00 per person if you cannot go for some emergency. I hope that will you never have to experience an emergency that causes you to miss any vacation.

I STRONGLY recommend it and on any cruise or package trip have always taken it
not only does it cover if you cant go , consider the other things it covers such as lost luggage ( can speak from personal experience on that one...lost luggage we never got EVER when we were on vacation and even when we got home ), medical issues in another country etc

dont get it if you can afford to self insure for any of the unforseen events covered ...
fortunately most people dont need to use it but have heard stories of people not taking it and losing a LOT of money

I had a previously healthy grandparent suddenly get very ill just prior to a 1998 carnival cruise. My partner and I had purchased the insurance and subsequently were rebooked on another later cruise with minimal hassle. Last vacation, which I did not purchase insurance, was cancelled by a little blizzard that hit colorado. That one cost me a lot of money and taught me a very important lesson = get the insurance!

just my opinion...

Also covers you if heaven forbid you get ill or injured on the cruise and need to taken to the nearest hospital, which if you were to pay on your own would be thousands and thousands of $$$$$$$$$$$$ you hope for the best but plan for the worst and you are all set.Always recommend getting ins, but not the cruise lines! If they go bankrupt you get nothing and the coverage is limited.Travel guard is one that we like to use and if purchased within 14 days of your deposit it will cover pre-existing conditions, yours or a close family member.

PS. Travel guard is your primary ins. you don't have to use yours then them. Check out their site and see all that it covers and find out how much it will cost. The cost goes by the amount of your trip.

We insured our trip through Trip Insurance USA. Email me and I'll give you the toll free #. Wonderfully helpful. They also have a web site that will give you costs for several ins. companys and you can compare and purchase online. I just prefer to talk to a human. The president of the company called me back and found even better coverage than I had picked for only nine dollars more. 7night cruise, 2 adults and 2 kids = $163. Much better than 300+ Carnival was charging and better coverage.

I would NEVER travel outside the US without medical insurance. There have been too many horror stories on different travel boards about the many problems of NOT having medical insurance.

I had insurance a couple of years ago and broke a rib in Tahiti. It paid for xrays and physician in Tahiti, medication and treatment aboard ship, and follow up treatment back home. A great investment!
