Just wondering if there are extra charges for access. I want to be able to keep in touch with my inlaws who will be housesitting and watching the kiddos.

Thanks.

Yep, It varies from cruise line to cruise line as I understand. 2 years ago on the Rhapsody it was .50 per min. and it adds up very quickly. We used it a little, just very judicially.

We will be on the Elation Oct 12. When are you going?

We're going on the Elation June 22 with neighboring cabins with my bil/sil(dh's brother and his wife). This is the first time we've left our kids for that long of a period of time. We're just both kind of nervous. I'll have to see if my cell will work while in port. I have a Tracfone that is prepaid and when you're roaming it's twice the minutes, I just don't know if it will work. That may be the way to go. I also read in one of my searches that one of the Carnival cruises that has a convention on board, if you work for that company you can get a wireless internet card that will work throughout the ship. Well, we have two laptops with wireless cards, so maybe we'll take one and see if it works. That would be awesome! Thanks for the info.

Its not likely that your cel will work in Mexico. However, check the Internet Café closest to the cruise dock. Besides very cheap Internet ($4. an HOUR or less usually), they frequently have relatively inexpensive International Calling, or voice over IP computers.
