WE are going on the Crown princess next July 9. We were wondering how the internet woks on princess ships. Do you buy services by the hour? They mention wireless through the ship.

You can pay by the minute or purchase packages with 'x-number' of minutes.

I was on the Crown Princess 1/2007 and the Emerald 1/2008 and wireless is available in the atrium area. I do remember reading somewhere that Princess was beginning to put wireless thru out the ships, but can't find where I read it.

Generally speaking, our limited experience with internet at sea was that the service was very slow. On our last cruise, I wanted to print out one email that I had "kept as new". The process took 10 minutes. I'd be interested in hearing the experience of others with respect to internet speed at sea.

On our cruise last Princess cruise they did offer free internet for 75 minutes, or so, per person if you had over five cruises with Princess. We never even used up the first free 75 minutes but it is a nice gesture from Princess to offer these free minutes to past passengers. I think until last year Princess did offer unlimited free internet to passengers with over five cruises on Princess but they cut that back to 75 free minutes but that was plenty for me.

I thought the amount of free minutes (for platinum and above) depended on how long the cruise was. Any thoughts?
