Having used my iPad on the Grand last year, I noticed one thing. In the designated wifi areas, it was an ok signal, in the cabin the signal was iffy most of the time. Remember, the ship is using satillite based internet, not a connected broadband. That means when the ship is moving at a good pace or the weather is bad, the signal getting to the ship may be less than ideal. Then split that signal by all the people trying to use it at the same time and you end up with something like dial up speeds. And I think the ship must segregate part of the signal for offical use. There is no way that they could do business with the main office via a crappy connection.
