I read some wherethat Irons are not to be brought on board. Is this true? How strict is it enforced?

My friends were just on a cruise and took their iron. She said no one said anything to her. I'm taking my travel iron and travel steamer with me.

You are not allowed to use personal irons on board since you can easily cause a fire, etc. But I always take mine...To avoid any kind of trouble, I iron EVERYTHING I need as soon as I get onboard and put the iron away for the rest of the cruise. I wouldn't want be responsible for forgetting an iron on in the cabin!!! :0

I always brought my own because the one in the laundry room always has a long line when you need it. I always left mine out in the open and have not gotten any complaint yet.

I've always taken mine, too. No one has ever questioned me. I do put it on a shelf with nothing else around it after it's cooled off a bit. And I'm more careful on board ship about unplugging and putting it away than I would be at home.

Just got back from the Glory. There were irons and boards in a laundry room on the floors dominated by cabins. After only maybe 6 cruises the iron was kinda funky...wish I had brought my own. Downey Wrinkle Reducer just doesn't work on everything :) and I wouldn't even try it on my dress for formal night! :O I know fire is the worst thing that can happen on a cruise ship but I think I'll do as other posters have and pack one in the future but just be VERY careful with it!
