Can you take irons on board or just steamers? We are just wondering about wrinkles?

They are very explicit. No irons. But that being said...I did take a small travel iron once. Just don't let the cabin attendent see it.

It all seems a little silly having to send shirts away to be ironed each day!!! I must admit the P&O idea of giving you the option of usung the self service laundry is far better. Would our butler iron shirts?

Ian,
We bring our travel steamer along on every cruise and there is no problem. The cabin steward never says anything about it, we put ours right on the vanity after we are done so it can cool off. Unplugged of course :thumb Take one with you, you will be glad you did :wave No, the butler won't do any ironing, but they do many other helpful things as the poster mentioned in your other post. Have a great cruise.

Steamers...yes!
IRONS....NO!
The number one thing to fear on a ship..fire!

every fire started with someone saying, "Well, I;ll be careful!"

As Jim says the reason for the 'no irons' is a fire safety issue :)
We send ours to be ironed it's so easy to do that and it's not expensive :)

Nice idea that, but how come smoking in cabins is allowed then?? Sureley a naked flame is 100 more dangerous than an iron? When on Oriana recently they had a couple of waste bin fires in cabin caused by discarded cigarettes but not a problem caused by irons. Personally I can't understand how it is still allowed in staterooms anyway. The stale smell if the previous person in your cabin is awful.

Ian I couldn't agree with you more...................
But the question was about irons so we gave out the information that we knew :)
We had a fire in our cabin on the last night of a 4 days cruise on SOS, the smoke was nasty and acrid. What do you think people were doing? Busy packing and putting their suitcases out in the hallway! :dizzy
It was a light fixture that had melted and the smoke was coming out from under the door and then up along the ceiling, It wasn't like you could miss it! We could smell it half way down the hallway too.
Our friends that had come with us it was their first cruise :lol It didn't put them off though they have cruised again.

I should add that am a none smoker AND a none ironer at home or on a cruise :grin
