Is Carnival Miracle good for young kids?

We are considering a Sept. 06, 7 night cruise aboard the Carnival Miracle with our 2 year old son. We like the ports this cruise stops in, and it's the right price. However, this will have been only our second cruise (our first is in Jan. 06 in the Disney Wonder) so we're not sure if this is a toddler-friendly cruise line. Are there things for him to do on this ship? What is Camp Carnival like for a 2 year old? Is there group babysitting services should we want to do an excursion/dining alone? Are there any activities on board besides Camp Carnival that he would enjoy (i.e. shows, etc?). Are the dinner seatings long and non-kid friendly? I don't want to have a boisterous toddler on my hands and everyone else at the table not have children and not be able to commiserate/understand.

If this isn't a good choice for us, we'll probably just do Disney again while we can still afford it (since it's practically free for his age and we just pay for ourselves).

Thanks for the suggestions!

Carnival is very toddler friendly. Carnival will take two year old children in its children's program and change diapers. I have a picture or two of the area for the two year olds on the Pride (older sister of the Miracle). I'll see if I can post them before I leave on my cruise. Since two year olds are allowed in the program, there are activities for two year olds, as well as an area for a two year old to relax and be quite. The area has a small maze of tubes he can go through, a big screen for watching movies as well as the normal stuff (coloring ...)

There is a kiddie pool for young children. There is group babysitting. You can go to the dinning room and eat or you can go to the buffet to eat. Once or twice a week Carnival offers a kids dinner so the parents can enjoy dinner without the kids. Most likely you will be seated at a table with other families.

The link below will provide you with more info on Carnival's toddler program ...

I took my 2 kids with us on the Valor this year and they had a great time at camp carnival. The dining wait staff made sure that my kids were well taken care of in the dining area and no one seemed to mind that we had kids with us. The childrens menu was awsome. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Your child will have to be 2--not a week shy of his 2nd birthday--so make sure that you sail after that date. If he is even a few days under he will not be allowed to particiapte in the camp.
You will be given a pager incase of probles. Here is a link to the Miracle camp activities.

Here are a couple of pictures of the younger kids area on the Pride (which is very similar to the same area on the Miracle). The first picture shows the tubes they can play in and the second shows the movie screen ...

I recently took our 3 year old with us on the Miracle. We did a few nights in the dining room with her and the wait staff really took care to her needs. Special attention and a fruit bowl every night. She loved playing in Camp Carnival and they had a good ratio of staff. We went in September and not many children were on board. It made things easier to check in and out and we never had a problem for the babysitting services at night.
