IMHO and IMRE Celebrity is not the best choice for taveling with kids. You will find more couples aboard than families and the activities for kids are limited.

Even for me,Celebrity is too sedate.

I think RCI is a much better choice. I am in the midst of planning a family reunion cruise and we will be sailing with RCI mainly for the amount of activities offered and for their children's program.

Celebrity ships on a seven day run of the Millie class for sure have a great kids program and facilities. The facilities of course are there all the time . I would think that the Mercury and the Galaxy would also but I do not have personal experience there. The Zenith & Horizon have much smaller rooms and generally do longer cruises. So along with them and longer cruises with the other ships I would hesitate to book with kids. The shorter the cruise = more chances of kids in my experience.

Although Celebrity is not my first choice for a family cruise, they are really trying to improve that image. As mentioned, the Millie class has a great Fun Factory, Good Evening programs including Kids Dining with Counselors and evening events that are all free. Paid babysitting individually or in groups is also available. We have our 3 grand children sailing with us next Feb. school vacation week who are very excited about their cruise on the Millennium. Celebrity offers some great FV family cabins, too.

We just got off the Mercury with our 10 yr old son. The youth programs were wonderful. There were I believe 4 age ranges with appropriate events. There were dinner parties and movies and slumber parties (not all night).

There is even a nightclub especially for teens and there were always kids there when we passed that.

According to my son the Mercury was the best kids program so far that he's been too. And he enjoyed HAL and NCL's too. He just felt the Mercury was more fun.

So I think Celebrity will be a good choice for the kids your traveling with.

The activities for kids are definitely not "limited"

Depends on your kids. Ben is 13 and loves Celebrity. For Alaska, I would suggest the Mercury or Radiance class ships of RCI.
