We're going in 3 days, and have packed our polartec jackets. And a sweater. And long sleeved shirts. And a couple of short sleeved shirts, because sometimes the towns are significantly warmer than on deck, glacier watching.

Do take gloves. Even in June, when we went last time, it was *cold* on deck, the two days we were in Glaciar Bay and cruising! We didn't have gloves then; they're at the top of the suitcase, now.

Have a good time!

I just got back from Alaska. It snowed in Anchorage on August 30 -- not a lot, a dusting -- "termination dust", they called it.

We had lots of cold and wet and rain and fog...

Mind you, we had a GREAT time on the Island Princess, and GREAT time on land in all the towns...

but we did have our winter coats and gloves..and needed them. It was VERY windy on the ship -- many times they closed the outer deck, because it was so windy and wet, too slippery for any sort of safe footing.

The wind and rain also made for a rather rocky trip. I loved it -- felt likt I was being rocked to sleep every night -- but some people were hit hard by it.

Anyway..I'm sorry my cruise is over! We had a fantastic time, love Alaska, and are planning to do it again, one day...
