Is it true? No more bringing on alcohol or even water bottles aboard Carnival?!

Just heard from a friend that Carnival has initiated a new
policy (or perhaps just enacting an old) where they are prohibiting
alcohol or even water bottles being brought on ship.

Can anyone who has recently sailed confirm or deny this?

Are they scrutinizing luggage and personals more than ever?!

It's interesting, as Princess and Royal Caribbean are perhaps
the only two lines that look the other way as far as bringing
alcohol on board.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this matter, but I
am booked for a future Carnival cruise and will certainly
cancel it if I know that alcohol is being confiscated.

Look forward to hearing some responses.

We were just on the Liberty 4/22 sailing and saw or heard of no changes in policy. My usual stash arrived in my cabin as usual; so did everyone else that I spoke to. Simply be discreet, and you won't have a problem.

cruzman, Did you use a rolling cooler with a luggage tag on it? Or did you put your stash in the suitcase?

Sailgirl, we put everything in our checked luggage, although we also brought a collapsible cooler that we used after boarding. It was also packed in checked luggage.

We were on the Liberty on the 4/28 sailing. Had soda and water in checked luggage. No problem. We even watched other folks carry on Pepsi cubes and cases of water. No problem for anybody.

Just got back from the Carnival Fantasy cruise to Western Caribbean and we took lots of water. They say no alcohol but you could definitely put it in your luggage in water bottles. We saw lots of liquor bottles that had been confiscated in customs so be careful. I bought liquor at Cozumel and forgot to check it when I got back on board and nobody noticed.

specialeeffexx,

I realize that this is not thread, so please forgive me, can you tell me a little about the changes to the Fantasy. I understand she was supposed to have been upgraded and all since the time we where on her. Can you give me some ideas of what they did? you can email me direct if you wish.

This is going to be my first cruise and I have no intention of buying the soda card for myself or my daughter as we rarely drink soda (trying to lay off it!) we usually drink water or tea or coffee. During the non-meals I'm wondering if you have to purchase water and tea or is it available for the guests somewhere else? I think I will bring a 6 pack of waters to be on the safe side but I had to get dehydrated.

Thanks!

according to Carnival's website they do allow a "reasonable" amount of bottled water and soda per cruiser. not sure what they consider reasonable but would think what you would need till you get to the first destination would be fine. then just buy some more at that port...seems reasonable to me.

All the water, tea, or coffee you could possibly consume is available 24/7 at no extra charge. This is true in all of the dining rooms, on the Lido buffet, and room service.

They also have a wide variety of juices in the morning, and lemonade and fruit punch the rest of the day, along with water, coffee and iced tea. You can also get cartons of milk from the buffet. I drink GALLONS of the lemonade. It if really good! The water from the dispensers and fountains doesn't taste all that bad, unless you are pretty particular.

All of the above is free of charge. We find no need to buy a soda card, and we bring enough bottled water to carry on shore in the ports (2 bottles per person per port day), and some sodas to have in the cabin as a treat.

I forgot to mention... HOT CHOCOLATE 24/7. Free.
