i know after i cruise for the 1st time in sept i will want to do it again. i charged this cruise on my discover card and i am paying extra to have it paid off by the time i leave.

anyone with the inside scoop of the credit card from carnival, please enlighten us. i really dont know what the interest rates are and if the bonus points are easy or hard to build up. how long does it take to really get a "deal on your cruise"?.

any info is really appriciated. i am trying to keep my credit cards down to 2 and dont know whether to get this one or not.

thanks alot, dusty

We have the carnival cruise card and it is not really any better than any credit card..
They give you so much for carnival cruises only and they give you also a credit for other purchases such as a regular visa ..

I think it would take an awful lot of cruises to add up to real substancial savings and unless you plan on only crusing carnival for about 6 times a year .. You are going to be paying the same interest on any other credit card..

its a capital one credit card which is relatively easy to get without even great credit ..
The interest depends on your credit history .

Its only good if you cruise a lot or want to keep your cruises separate from other credit and use it primarily as your sign and sail account

its a credit card.. others have travel points that are better..

I just got $1000 off a cruise using mine. As Sara Lee says, it is a credit card. Mine is a M/C. I use it all the time for my charges that can not go on my AMEX. It costs nothing and I pay the balance in full monthly, so do not worry about interest charges. It can be used for anything not just cruises. But, you can only redeem the points for CCL cruises.
1 point for each dollar spent but the levels to redeem are rather higher than some other reward cards.

how did you get the 1000 of using your card???? Was it because you booked 8 other cabins for friends also ?? I was reading something about it ..

But did you get it just for using the card or was it due to the charges of the many rooms etc..explain a little more if you could .

Thanks a lot

It was just for using the card like one would with any credit card - groceries, gas, shopping, etc. Points add up and you make your best deal with your TA, call CC company redeem points get certificate number wait 48 hours and then call CCL with number and they take the amount $200, 500, 1000 off your cruise.

I have the Carnival card from CapitalOne and I think it is a great deal. I have earned and used one $500 certificate and almost have enough points for another one. You have 5 years to accumulate the points; they add up at one point per each dollar spent. We use the card on everything possible. We also keep it paid off monthly, so in essence, they pay me to use the card. What more could you ask for?

It takes 9,000 points for $200, 23,000 for $500 and 46,000 for $1,000 certificates. You can also earn free cruises, upgrades and gifts. However, I would rather get a certificate and then I am free to use it at any travel agency on any cruise. The free cruises have limitations which I find "limiting"!

If you have charged $1500 then you have 1500 points. It is a 1 for 1 deal. As I said earlier, there are better cc award programs out there. For my M/C, I prefered this one, so when I am shopping and using M/C I always use the CCL card. Plus college tuition helps to accumulate thoe points very quickly.

I use the card for everything I can. Gas, phone bills, groceries, cruises, paid off my son's college tuition, dentist--anything and everything possible. These are all things I have to pay anyway, so I don't lose anything by doing it this way. I even save on postage as I mail out far fewer checks.
