Is the Conquest a Spirit Class ship?

Also, does anyone happen to know what Carnival charges for deposits? If you have a quad cabin, do the 3rd and 4th persons pay a deposit also? All cruise lines are different and I just have no idea with Carnival.

Thanks for the help! :wave

No, the Conquest is not a Spirit Class Ship. She is larger by 24,000 GRT. She is tauted as the first in the Conquest Class Ships. As for deposits, last Carnival cruise that I booked was the Pride last May; deposit was $250 per person and I understand that is for each and every person.

Thanks, Cruzman. I appreciate the help and the answers! :thumb We're trying to decide if we want to do this ship or not. There are so few cruises during the summer that it makes it very hard to find a cruise we want to do.

The Conquest is as noted the first of the Conquest Class; similar to Spirit but larger and with a new Teen Only section. Deposits are usually based on the number of nights of the cruise: 7 nights - $250, 8 -12 $300, etc. The brand new Carnival Legend is sailing next Summer out of NYC. It is a beautiful ship. Have you looked into it?

Thanks so much for the help everyone. After looking at Kelly's pictures (boy, am I glad she posted her link!) and reading reviews of the ship, we decided that the Conquest wasn't for us. We cancelled our Zuiderdam cruise and booked RCI's Navigator for the same time frame next July. We weren't impressed with the Zuiderdam's interior, their suites and the reviews we read either and besides, the boys really wanted a waterslide again. :)

Nana - I definitely want to do a NYC cruise one of these days. It'd be a great experience for all of us, but we just bought a huge new house and we're trying to watch our pennies (that's all we have left!) When we do a NYC cruise, I know we'll want to stay in the city for at least 4 days prior to the cruise and that would add up, so maybe next summer. Thanks for the suggestion though! :thumb

What kind of pricing are you getting for Navigator for the month of July? I am interested in doing something over the summer with my sisters. Last July we did the Grand Princess and really loved it, unfortunately Princess is not doing the Caribbean this summer.
Thanks for any info.

Melindda - I haven't received the price yet from Lori C. I think she's sending it today. One thing about RCI - they always quote really high prices for summer cruises and then deeply discount them about 2 months from the cruise. Wish they wouldn't do this, but they do. You might e-mail Lori. Her e-mail is at her website, skyscrapertours.com

We just priced Navigator and Voyager for a cruise for the beginning of August. Our TA quoted us: Inside $1149, Window $1299, and Balcony $1499 per person for RCL (both ships), including port charges. 3rd passenger would be $899, including port charges. These prices were with a lower price guarantee, so we'd get the benefit of price drops as we got closer to the cruise. Our TA thought that Navigator might have bigger price drops than Voyager, because more people choose to cruise on Sundays. We ended up booking Glory, based on itinerary. We're happy with our TA (she's hooked up with one of the big internet discounters, and has got us good prices on 7 cruises so far -- she's very responsive). Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like her contact info.

Last January we booked a June cruise on the Pride after pricing both Pride and Explorer of the Seas. RCL was signficantly higher in cost. By June, we saw the Explorer prices drop to the same as our Pride cruise. Yeah, we went ahead and booked a second cruise on Explorer of the Seas in August. . . the cabin selection at that point was pretty skinny, but we had a GREAT trip.
