I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what to wear for the formal night on a Celebrity cruise. I've heard "formal" on this ship as everything from a pantsuit to an evening gown. Since the responses I recieved were somewhat inconsistent, I bought a dress that I feel like is somewhere in between. Does anyone think that this dress will be considered to informal? If so, I'd really like to know, so I can make adjustments! I'm 22 years old, and I most definitely don't want to make the wrong impression on the earlier generation that I'll be cruising with! Thanks!

Jenl,

Hopefully some of the ladies will give you advice on your formal night, since they definitely have better fashion sense than we men. Having said that, I'd offer the following advice, having taken over a dozen Celebrity cruises.

How formal women dress varies a lot. You will see some elegant long formalwear, short cocktail dresses, fancy pants suits with sparkly tops, some "little plain black dresses", and just about anything else. So, the dress you're thinking about wearing will be fine.

Saw your post and photo of both dresses on the other board. Allow an " older " gentleman ( me ) to comment please:
Just by looking at your photo on the other site, I believe this dress would suit you better than the long formal thingee. By your photo, you appear to be young, attractive and personable-- hence my deduction.
Wear this one.
