Just received my Captain's Club News, and ... lo and behold ... my bargain cruise on the Horizon ($399 for 7 nights, outside stateroom) qualifies for an additional price reduction of $125 for the cabin. Doing the math, we're sailing for $48/day including tax, tag and title. One more discount and they'll be paying me to cruise!!

I think there is a statment on the coupon stating that is has to be a newly booked cruise. The coupon can't be used on a previously book cruise.

Nope - as long as there's a deposit on record (including being paid in full), the coupon is good. I've already been in touch with my TA, and there's no problem with it. Of course, this is Celebrity, so .... But I have been assured that my account will be credited when the coupon is processed.

First of all thanks a lot you saved me $125. I called Celebrity and confirmed you can use the coupon on existing paid in full reservations and they said yes. So I gotta get it to my T/A. ASAP

Which issue of the Captain's club news is this? The one I have is Vol. II and the coupons include our sailing of the Millennium but they definitely say that they can only be used on new bookings. If there's another issue out that says otherwise , I'll be really sick if I threw it out.

Just ignore my post above. My new Captain's Club News just arrived and the new coupons don't include our cruise. Darn, it anyway.

Gayle - it is indeed the current Captain's Club News. I received mine yesterday, checked the applicable sailings, and noticed that mine is among them. Truthfully, I didn't even read the disclaimer; but I contacted Celebrity, and was informed that the coupon could be used on any deposited reservation, including fully-paid cruises. My TA advised me that it's up to the agency, since the commission would be affected (the lower the total fare, the less the remuneration), but that it would hardly be in their best interest to refuse it. I had no problem applying the coupon. My account will be credited the $125, and will be reflected on my next credit card statement.

Hooked - my pleasure. Have one on me!!

I sure will Al !! Heck I can have a couple.

You mentioned the TA refusing the coupon. Heck if she does I'll say see Ya, and won't use her again. This is my second cruise through her.

Hi Keli, Yes the Century is listed for cruises between Nov. 2, 2002 to Apr. 26, 2003, excluding Dec. 21 and 28, 2002.

There's a long list of cruises, which generally include everything from October through March, with holiday periods blacked out. Every ship is noted. If you don't receive your CC News by the end of the week, call the Celebrity Captain's Club Desk at 1-800-760-0654. They're notorious for screwing up all kinds of stuff, from not mailing cards, to sending out one spouse's card but not the other's, to just losing information. You really have to follow up with these folks - and they charge $35 for this!!!

Hi Al,

That is great news for you. My travel agent said I could not use my coupon due to the fact that she already applied a 100.00 off coupon to arrive at my rate for the cruise. Sounds like you got a much better deal.

If you had an actual hard-copy coupon from the last CC News, she's probably right - usually one offer per cruise, not combinable with any other specials. $25 isn't a big deal. See ya on board!!

I agree. It is still a great deal. See you there!! It will not be here soon enough for me.

I am not currently a member of the Captain's Club, but my husband and I are going on our first cruise on Oct 19th on Celebrity's Century. Does this mean that if I signed up for the Captain's Club right now that I would get $125 off my cruise?

Hi Nichole. According to their policy you have to already have sailed at least once with Celebrity to join, or you can join while onboard your first cruise with them. That being said I know that of several people who managed to join before their first Celebrity cruise, but I don't know their secret for getting around the rule. Sorry.

This credit, coupled with a $399pp all-inclusive fare, brings our total down to $673 - FOR TWO!! Add the upgrade to an outside stateroom, and this is by far the best deal we've ever received! We're also in touch with a bunch of other folks going, and have more than enough for the (excuse the expression) Cruise Critic get-together. I just love it when a plan comes together!!!
