Jamaica - ok to go since the hurricane?

My wife and I was in the process of making plans on going to Jamaica in January.
(we were panning on going to one of the all-inclusive resorts)
But then they got hit with that category 4 hurricane.
Now we wonder if Jamaica would still be ok to visit.
Not certain how long it takes the mess from the hurricane to be cleaned up?
Both the "Jamaican tourist board" and "Sandals Resorts" say that everything is ok to come to Jamaica.
But, considering the source, they would be "bias".
I request any Unbiased feedback on this.
Thank you.

I honestly dont know what Dean did to Jamaica. I would google for Jamaica newspapers and see what their news media is saying.

If the AI are taking bookings then they must be okay within reason.

Keep in mind, Dean might have been kind this time but who knows what is brewing out there in the next few months. Look into cancellation insurance.

What area are you planning on staying in? It sounds like you are staying at Sandals since you mentioned that they said everything is fine and all of their properties are in areas that were not too hard hit. Except maybe White House but I know that their property was not damaged much, but some of the surrounding area was. However, you are not going until January everything will be pretty much back to normal by then.

I just spoke to a friend in Negril last week and he said they had a lot of wind, but not much damage.
