Well I can't say about the 4x4 excursion, but we did the horseback riding excursion on the beach and it was wonderful fun. You actually take the horses into the ocean!

Did you have prior experience with horses? I think that the ride sounds great but I have very little experience riding. How easy were the horses to control? Thanks

I am also interested in this excursion. I can't find any info on it on any of the message boards. It's almost as if no one has taken it. I would prefer to book an excursion that I know people have enjoyed. I am also curious about the River Tubing Safari. Thanks.

We've only done the falls and plantation tours...no horses, although I've read a few that enjoyed that excursion....wonder if the 4x4's are a new excursion? Hard to believe RCCL would keep if they got very little use.

We took the horseback riding tour when we sailed on the Carnival Paradise a couple of years ago. We booked thru the cruise line but I remember finding it on the internet also. Try Carnivals shore excursion page it may be there. They didn't advertise it like they did the Falls
Neither of us had much riding experience there were plenty of folks who had none. They pair you with horses that match your ablity most know the trail by heart. We rode thru an old sugar plantation turned ranch on the way to the beach. Actually stopped to see a calf being born on the way (not part of the usual tour :-0 ) Then it was on to the beach. It was BEAUTIFUL! after a ride on the beach you put on ski belts and take the horses into the water bareback...ours actually swam carrying us! We both loved it!!!!!

Just found more info. on the horseback riding you can go to www.chukkacove.com for details on booking off-ship.

or here is what Carnival's web site said:

"Enjoy a 20-minute ride by air -conditioned coach along the coast to Chukka Cove. After a short orientation you will be matched with a horse suited to your ability before departing on a ride to the beach in the care of 8-10 guides who unsaddle the horses while riders change into their bathing suits. Ride your horse bareback into the ocean for an experience of a lifetime! You will be served non-alcoholic drinks on the beach before returning to the farm where the bus awaits. Note: Jeans and solid closed toe shoes highly recommended. Wear bathing suits beneath you clothing Approximately 3 ½ hours "
