Is it ok to wear jeans in the dining room on Celebrity for breakfast or lunch?

You probably can but it is not the norm on Celebrity ships. Their policy says casual wear on board during the day. Try Carnival for a more jean type cruise experience.

Never have seen anyone wear jeans in the dining room for breakfast or lunch on a Celebrity ship, and I'll be going on my 10th cruise this August. The buffet serves excelelnt breakfast and lunch where jeans are totally acceptable.

After some thought and reading others comments, I have changed my mind :lol
I have seen jeans worn for breakfast and lunch on the 3 Alaskan cruises we have been on.

Edited to redo my whole post! :grin

I must disagree with prior posts... we have seen (and wore) jeans and resort-style causal shorts regularly in the dining room for breakfast and lunch. Of course, not for dinner. You will be comfortable in either and you will not be alone. And I would disagree that you need to go to the buffet or another cruise line if you wish to be so casual at breakfast or lunch. Celebrity is our favorite line.

Yes. You can wear shorts and a good tee shirt for breakfast and lunch. Swimsuites are the main thing you cannot wear in the dining room at any time. The dress code for most of the mass market and premium lines are only for dinner and evening dress.

Have sailed on Celebrity 13 times and though jeans are not acceptable attire after 6PM (or for high tea), we've seen many folks wearing them to breakfast and lunch.

If you are on a caribbean or hot climate cruise, jeans would be way too warm to wear anytime. And jeans are specifically noted as improper wear for the evenings if you plan to be in any of the public rooms.

In Alaska you will see many/most folks wearing jeans or even sweatpants if it is late in the season. Even on the warmest days in Alaska very few will be in shorts for very long---unless you are a native Alaskan!

I saw jeans and shorts and t-shirts on the Mercury for lunch in the dining room when we were on a Panama Canal cruise. I never had breakfast in the dining room on the Mercury.

I honestly figure those that say they never saw jeans or shorts really were not looking at what others were wearing and why should they. Or perhaps some say they did not see any and it was not allowed because that is what they would prefer. I actually take notice because of the fact that it seems to bother some people on the cruise boards. It is funny how some people only observe what they want to observe. My comment is not meant to offend it is just my own observation.

People do wear them but it depends on the headwaiters as to whether they allow you in or not. They say no shorts in the dining room at anytime and they say no jeans. But it really depends, it does vary from ship to ship and cruise to cruise.

Jeans are o.k except in the Dining Room -lets be truthful somefolks look better in jeans than some do in 'casual wear' as requested by Celebrity, makes you wonder if some people look in a mirror at all!!!!.
'Mercury' Trans/Canal 2001,the guy in jeans on that cruise looked absolutely fantastic, its not what you wear its how you wear it that matters.

Emerald.

Anyone on 'Infinity' January 18 2004-South America?.
