Thank you so much for this information. This happened to me last April in Mexico. It was the strangest rash. It was exactly in the shape of my one piece bathing suit several inches in along the edge. It was horrible, red, raised, hot and itchy. The lack of much a/c down there and the humidity didn't help at all. I had no idea what it was but just waited it out and did use hydrocortisone, etc. It took about a week to feel better and a month+ for it to fade completely. I was the only one who came down with this but I am a snorkel freak. I never saw any postings or warnings anywhere. I snorkeled off the resort beach everyday (not everyone in our group did). Xel-Ha was another place we went to. We also took a snorkel excursion that took us to Yal-Ku lagoon in Akumal, a cave snorkel, and then to a cenote. While everyone else was jumping off the cliffs at the cenote I was mucking around on the other side of it viewing some pretty weird creatures. Of course I showered off with my swimsuit on and wore it on the trip back. It was after this day that I came down with the rash. Your info really helps explain the mystery for me and also warns me to be careful in the future. Thanks for your help.
